The Lion Park was first established in November 1966 by the world-famous Chipperfield’s Circus. It was nestled in the middle of the Gauteng–Tshwane complex with a typical Highveld climate. Hence, most of the indigenous animals seen at the lion park are quite at home. The Lion Safari Park houses over 80 lions, including the rare white lions. It is habitat to numerous other carnivores, such as cheetahs, wild dogs, brown hyenas, striped hyenas, and black-backed jackals. Furthermore, a wide variety of antelope roam freely in the exclusive herbivore area.
