The mine earned its place in history with the discovery of the Cullinan diamond in 1905, the largest rough gem diamond ever found at 3106 carats, which was cut to form the two most important diamonds in the British crown jewels.

ITINERARY:

• Morning: Hotel Pickup & Transfer (approx. 1 hour) You’ll be picked up directly from your Johannesburg or Pretoria hotel in an air-conditioned vehicle.
• Mid-Morning: Mine Arrival & Surface Tour (approx. 2-3 hours) At the mine, your visit typically includes: A safety briefing and an introductory video.
• A guided walk on the surface to view the massive open-cast pit, which is significantly larger than the famous “Big Hole” at Kimberley.
• Explanations of the mining process, machinery, and the mine’s famous history, including the discovery of the 3,106-carat Cullinan Diamond.
• A visit to the on-site market for diamond and jewelry shopping.
• Afternoon: Return Transfer to Johannesburg After the tour concludes, you will be driven back to your hotel.
